At half past eight, October 7, China North-South University Students Chess Match was started in Nanjing Information Engineering University. 200 students from Tsinghua University、Peking University、Nanjing University and Southeast University and many other north and south universities took part in this match. This match was the first one in university students’ chess matches, also the first one in China.

　　This match is co-organized by Nanjing Chess Tournament Committee, Chinese Chess Association, undertaken by Pukou District Sports Bureau and Pukou District NSAs. The aim is to promote the wise game among students, to improve the development of Chinese chess, to improve the humanistic qualities of teenagers and help chess develop.

　　The players were selected and recommended by the universities, Jiangsu Province Chess Association and Chinese Chess Association. At last 200 players were decided by the organizers to take part in the match. The team of north part is from Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Science and Technology and other Beijing universities. The team of south is from Nanjing University, Southeast University, and Nanjing University of Technology, Nanjing Information Engineering University and other Jiangsu universities. The match used the latest Chess Regulations which was ruled by the General Administration of Sports of China. In the first board, the White was decided through lot drawing, 30 minutes as time control, adding 30 seconds after each step and including 2 boards.

　　The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice mayor of PuKou district, Lu Yi. The standing member of CPC Pukou District Committee , Director of Pukou Publicity Department, Dong Wei, Secretary of CPC Pukou District Committee , District of Pukou NPC Standing Committee , Qi Lu, Secretary General of Chinese chess Association ,Director of theChess Department of Chess and Card Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of China

　　After three hours’ playing, the north team had 106.5 points and the south one had 93.5 points. The north one won.
