On October 6th, before the North-South University Students Chess Match starting, the organizers of Nanjing Tournament organized the students to watch the masters playing chess.

　　It made these students very excited to watch the masters perform. Yu Jiangwei is a junior in Tsinghua University, rating 2243. He started to play chess since he was 5 years old and once was selected into National Junior Team training camp. He took part in National B chess individual race in August 2009 and was ranked 27th.

　　Before this year’s match, Yu Jiangwei got information of Nanjing Tournament through the Internet. He thinks the level of the tournament is very high, many top players taking part in it, and the Internet Live is quite good and convenient for fans to watch. It also has commentary by professionals which is helpful for the primary fans and some beginners.

　　There are more and more chess fans among university students. The number of Tsinghua University Chess Association is increasing every year, and many students may take part in the chess activities. Chess master Ruan Lufei is studying in college of economics and management. She is not only a chess master, but also a student with excellent achievement. The KUMITE between Ruan Lufei and chess members becomes the best activity of the chess association.

　　Yu Jiangwei feels a sense of intimacy when talking about Wang Yue. He had had chance to play chess with Wang Yue and been taught by coach Ye Jiangchuan when he was in National Junior Team training camp. Yu Jiangwei felt quite glad to take part in the match in Nanjing and hope to perform well to play with southern students.

　　Columbia University in the USA and some universities in Singapore and Honking have preferential treatments in admission policy for excellent chess player students. Such kind of police can encourage more people to play chess in some degree.

　　Though not choosing the way of being professional players, it will become the first hobby to play chess and promote to the surrounding people in the most degree.

　　Li Yongan is the leader of North Team and a teacher of Beijing Normal University, also the first teacher to have chess course in Beijing universities. His chess elective is popular among students. They are very interested in chess culture.

　　Li Yongan said: “Chess is just beginning in Chinese universities now and need to be improved more. The group of universities students is absolutely important for society and country. And chess will make them think more rigorous and keep better mentality. The match between north and south provides the chance.”

　　Chess on the upgrading of thinking has been widely recognized. It contains exercise of reasoning ability, memory capacity, and imagination ability. Even more critical is that adjustment of Chess to right mentality and the mental. He said:” Some students entering the university, to a new environment of the reality and life, so there will be some deviation attitude. Chess tells students that when face difficulties, don’t worry, you should take it easy, so the first lesson in Beijing University is life of Chess.”

　　Gong Zijie, from Nanjing Information Engineering University, had a beautiful performance today. Two winnings were very satisfying. “Today’s chess is played quite solid, but I also made some difficulties for my opponent.” Gong Zijie’s assessment on the competition today was short. But he was very happy. “Of course I’m happy to win in our own school. Our School’s characteristic is chess. I wish there are more and more students to know chess, to enjoy Chess, to treat it as a hobby.” For the Tournament held in Nanjing, Gong Zijie said:” It’s a promotion in developing chess in Nanjing to have invited top masters to join our Tournament. 　　Li Mengshuang is Sophomore of Nanjing University. She began to learn Chess since 5 years old. She also took part in the competition of “Li Chengzhi” Cup. But for study, she never played chess after junior high school. After entering the university, she played Chess again. In the match between the North and South students, Li Mengshuang’s opponent is from Tsinghua University. Although the result of one winning and one draw is not very satisfying, Li Mengshuang did not show a lot of pity. ” Yesterday's on-site chess watching is exciting, and it’s rare to see the master’s performance. This match provides our university students of both North and South a valuable opportunity of communication. Through this activity, some students who knew only a little about chess want to study chess deeply NOW. School also gives us lots of help. I consider it very good for our chess skill, and the promotion of chess.”
