Report by Steve Giddins
Round two produced a fascinating day's play at Wijk aan Zee, with three decisive results and a number of hard-fought draws. Amongst the interested spectators was the world's strongest online kibitzer, Garry Kasparov, who shared some comments and insights with ChessBase. Nakamura delighted the watching crowd, both real and virtual, with a series of sacrifices against van Wely's Najdorf.
In the B Group, Anish Giri continued his sensational start, by simply crushing Nisipeanu – with the black pieces. The other three "N's" in the group – Naiditsch, Nyback and Ni – all won, whilst Kujpers, Peng and Robson all scored the full point in Group C.
