Leko: China has an excellent coach Ye Jiangchuan——a up-and-coming star has reached world class
[2009-10-01 ] Hit Count :390

2009 China (Nanjing) International Chess Super Grand Prix started the fourth round of the contest in the afternoon of October 1 Beijing Time, and Hungary famous player Leko draw with Chinese player Wang Yue, and after the match, Leko attended the press conference.

Leko used the word "psychological warfare" to describe this game against Wang Yue: "We have adopted the layout of the new approach in order to give each other a lot of tests. In the middle game, we have played out the grandmaster level, and the situation went into the flat first, up to a draw.

As for the issue "What sports do you like?", sports fan Leko happily replied: "In my very young, I tried a lot of sports. My mother brought me into contact with a variety of sports items, and finally, I chose International Chess because in this field I was easier to reach grandmaster level, and when I was 11 -12 years of age, I reached this level. I always go to a football club playing football, playing tennis as well as Pingpong. In this trip to Nanjing, it is just conditional to play table tennis, but in these days I have not yet plaid  ping-pong with China's ping-pong masters, so I am pleased to have retained the honor of ping-pong master.”

In 1994, when Leko was 15-year-old, he got the title of grandmaster, breaking at the time grandmaster title records for the youngest to achieve. Leko said: "In 1994, there was no a computer, I could only read chess books to improve, and my progress is difficult, but now through the computer software, the players advance more quickly.”

As for the issue of how old is golden age of chess players, after some meditation, Leko said: "If he/she is 'child prodigy' level young player, after he/she reaches a certain level, he/she will continue progress; For example Ponomarev, Bacrot,  they were very early to obtain the title of grandmaster, and in the coming years, they became super-class players. But even in the age of 18, they did not meet 2700 points, it can not say that they could not become super-class players. For example Aronian, in 1990, he had already a very high level, but during 14-15 years, he had not much to improve. However, in 2004 -2005, he seemed to suddenly break through the bottleneck and became the world best player, so we do not ignore the hard work to achieve a high level.

Leko turned the conversation to China's international chess, he said: "Now Chinese players have very good training environment, and there are many outstanding coaches, such as Ye Jiangchuan. In 1996 Olympic game, I found that Ye Jiangchuan’s chess was very beautiful. I had a friend to contest against Ye Jiangchuan, and I would remind him of danger. But my friend did not care. As the result, Ye Jiangchuan took 25 steps to defeat him. My friends said, 'Well, my future life will remember the name '. In addition to Ye Jiangchuan, Bu Xiangzhi was also the earliest one known by the world chess players, and he also had broken the record of the youngest grandmaster title to obtain. Although Wang Yue's growth is slower, he gradually become one of the world's strongest players. Now a young player known as Ding Liren emerges in China, he won the national championship in China this year. Despite his rating points are less than 2500 (Editor's note: Ding Liren latest rating points have reached 2530), but I think his chess has reached the world-class level, and he is very promising. "
